【5/6(月祝)開催】堤淺吉漆店のもののまわりサイクルツアー

現在「D&DEPARTMENT KYOTO 」で2024年3月21日（木）〜5月7日（火）の期間で開催されております企画展「堤淺吉漆店のもののまわり」。

その第２弾となる連動企画は、京都の今の漆文化を知る「堤淺吉漆店のもののまわりサイクルツアー」が5月6日（月・祝）に開催されます。

D&DEPARTMENT KYOTOにて、展示解説からスタートし、堤淺吉漆店の漆精製工房を見学。見学後は、いよいよサイクリングへ。鴨川沿いを走りながら、ランチタイム。ランチでは、京北産木材に漆を塗った「使い捨てない」「使い続けられる」『漆と木のストロー「suw/」』をお使いいただき、漆特有の質感・口当たりを体験いただけます。

その後、京都市内を北へ進み、京漆器の後継者を育成・技術を未来へ継承していく「アサギ椀プロジェクト」の中心人物である塗師・西村圭功さんの工房を訪ねて、プロジェクトへの想い、漆芸に関わる職人育成の今後について普段なかなか聞けないお話をお伺いします。

今回のサイクリングツアーの相棒は、D&Department KYOTOにてレンタサイクルサービスを実施されている「BRUNO」の電動アシスト機能付き自転車「e-tool」。軽くて乗り降りがしやすく、小回りも効いて、細い道が多い京都の街でも軽やかに旅することができます。電動アシスト付きのため、普段自転車に乗り慣れない方でも、安定した走行が可能です。

このツアーをキッカケに漆のこと、漆にまつわる伝統工芸の世界について知っていただけたら幸いです。ゴールデンウィークに皆でサイクリングへ出かけましょう！

The "Mononomawari of Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi Shop” project exhibition is currently being held at "D&DEPARTMENT KYOTO" from March 21st to May 7th.

The 2nd part of this collaborative project, the "Mononomawari Cycle Tour," which allows participants to experience Kyoto's current Urushi culture, will be held on May 6th.

The tour will kick off with a visit to the exhibition at D&DEPARTMENT KYOTO, followed by a quick trip to our factory, where you will learn how Urushi is refined.

After that, you will embark on an exciting cycling tour along the Kamogawa River, with a delicious lunch break included.

During lunch, you will use “suw/“, a wooden straw produced by us, which has been coated with Urushi on Kyoto-produced wood, which can be used over and over again. This will allow you to experience the unique texture and feel of Urushi like never before.

Next, you will ride up north in Kyoto city to visit the studio of Urushi artist Keikou Nishimura, who is involved in the "Asagi Bowl Project”, aimed at fostering successors to Kyoto Urushi lacquerware and passing on techniques to the future.

Here, you will have the opportunity to view artworks, learn about the Asagi Bowl Project, and hear stories about the future of lacquer artisanship.

The companion for this cycling tour is the "e-tool," an electric-assisted bicycle provided by BRUNO, available for rental at D&DEPARTMENT KYOTO.

This lightweight and easy-to-maneuver bicycle is perfect for exploring Kyoto's narrow streets and allows for effortless riding.

Join us on this tour for a chance to delve into the fascinating world of Urushi and traditional crafts linked to it.
